Tottenham step up their pursuit second pursuit of Antonio Conte & this time he might accept their offer
Is the second time the charm for Tottenham and Antonio Conte?
Backstory
There was a time during this summer when it looked like Antonio Conte to Tottenham was a done deal. Then it emerged that the Italian manager was not convinced by the economic project. You see, Conte does not like austerity projects, and why should he? He is one of the best managers in world football. Why should he take on projects with little financial backing? Conte left Juventus with one magnificent quote, “You can’t go to a restaurant for 100 euros if you only have 10 euros in your pocket, can you?” The Turin club’s leadership expected him to work with a savings budget and he resigned. He managed the Italian national team, then Chelsea, where he surprisingly had money issues too. Conte has also had monetary issues at Inter Milan.
Is it any surprise that a project presented by a notoriously tight-fisted Daniel Levy did not entice Conte?
Nuno Espirito Santo Out
Nuno defeated Manchester City, Watford, and former club Wolves in his first month and picked up the first PL Manager of the month award. Since then, the Portuguese coach has lost to Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. They are third on the table of their Europa Conference League group. Worst of all, their football has been diabolical. Harry Kane’s form has dropped so bad, they have gone through multiple games without producing a shot on target. No player has improved while most continue to decline. The fans of the London club are livid. They have made their opinion known in chants, in meetings with the club, and on social media. Nuno out they say.
Antonio Conte is back on the Tottenham radar, and this time he might accept the job
According to various reports, Tottenham Hotspur will step up their pursuit of Antonio Conte, and the feeling is that he will accept their offer this time around. The Telegraph claims that talks are being held to determine Nuno’s future, and the man to replace him should be Antonio Conte. DiMarzio claims that Conte will accept the Tottenham offer if it comes. Conte does not like taking over mid-season, but he could change his stance for Tottenham. The 52-year-old was mentioned as a target for Manchester United. With Ole Gunnar under fire, his name was inserted but that case is on hold with OGS beating Nuno’s Tottenham to keep his job temporarily.
Conte is the perfect candidate to rebuild and win. His previous positions have seen him rejuvenate sleeping giants on his way to winning titles. This is the sort of man that can revive Tottenham from the slump they have been in since Mauricio Pochettino’s last season at the club. He has the passion, fieriness, and tactical acumen to do it. If Levy can cough up enough money to revitalize the squad with Conte at the helm, history suggests an EPL title awaits Tottenham down the line.
Another feather for the English Premier League
The EPL is already considered the most competitive league in the world and adding Antonio Conte will increase the premium quality. The league continues to pull away from the other leagues financially and in terms of quality. Antonio Conte is one of the best managers in the world, and it will be interesting to see him come up against other genius football minds like Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, and Pep Guardiola. Can Levy convince him to bite? We wait to see.
