Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille have announced the signing of Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer after the player terminated his contract with Inter Milan yesterday.
Sanchez will sign a one-year contract with the club with the option of an additional year extension and wear the number 70 shirt.
The 33-year-old Chilean international will join the club pending a successful medical. Sanchez arrived in Marseille this evening to complete his medical tests amid rapturous cheers from the OM faithful.
On Sunday night, Pablo Longoria, president of Olympique Marseille, admitted that the club was discussing with Sanchez during the build-up to Marseille’s season opener against Stade de Reims.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona attacker will earn €3 million in at the club located in the south.
Sanchez leaves Inter Milan with three titles won across three seasons. He scored 20 goals and assisted 23 more in his 108 appearances for the Milan club.
