AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has extended his contract with the club until 2023. The Italian manager has been with the club since taking over on the 9th of October, 2019. He has guided AC Milan back to the UEFA Champions League and has a very young team, led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer, punching above their weight. Since Pioli took over the Milan club in the 19/20 season, only Inter Milan has picked up more points in Serie A. Pioli has earned 1.96 points per game. The former Fiorentina and Lazio manager has done well under the technical leadership of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara who stuck by him when Ivan Gazidis wanted to bring in Ralf Rangnick , who is now destined to join Manchester United.
AC Milan currently sits second in the Serie A table, level on points with Napoli. They are third in UEFA Champions League Group B but there is hope they can make it to the next round if they can beat Liverpool who have already secured qualification at the San Siro. AC Milan will also be hoping that La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid beat second-placed Porto on the same night.
