Serie A side Spezia have opened negotiations with Chelsea over the transfer of Ethan Ampadu according to Gianluca DiMarzio. The Welsh international spent last season on loan at Venezia where he impressed across various positions.
Ampadu appeared 29 times for Venezia before they went on relegation, but managed to impress the Ligurian club enough to start transfer talks with the blues. Spezia want to close the deal on time.
The 21-year-old was thought to be part of Thomas Tuchel‘s plan for the new campaign, but the Serie A side is pushing to sign the Exeter academy graduate.
Ampadu covered in defensive midfield, defense, and even at wing-back. That kind of versatility and experience is what Luca Gotti’s side needs to avoid relegation this upcoming season.
