Germany is now the first nation apart from host nation Qatar to have qualified for the World Cup in 2022. They thrashed North Macedonia four-nil to confirm qualification. They also needed a helping hand from Armenia who lost to Romania. While they struggled to break down a resolute defense in the first half, they found their way in the second half. Two well-struck goals from Timo Werner, a tap-in from Kai Havertz, and a confirmation goal from Jamal Musiala sealed the contest. It was Musiala’s first international goal. Youngsters Karim Adeyemi and Florian Wirtz also recorded assists.
The result also means that they continue their fantastic record of five wins in five games under Hansi Flick. They have scored 18 goals in that period, and conceded one.
