Houssem Aouar agrees personal terms with Nottingham Forest ahead of transfer from Lyon

Nottingham Forest have agreed on personal terms with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar

Houssem Aouar has agreed on personal terms with English side Nottingham Forest ahead of his move from Olympique Lyonnais, according to RMC Sport.

A total agreement now exists between Forest, Aouar, and his representatives.

The Premier League newcomers are one step away from signing the French star, but they must agree on a deal with Lyon first.

Lyon are demanding £15 million for Aouar. The player is out of a contract in June 2023, and Lyon want to avoid losing him for free.

The central/attacking midfielder now looks set to join Forest on a permanent transfer.

Aouar was reportedly a target for Real Betis, but nothing materialized from their interest. Leicester City also considered Aouar a replacement for Youri Tielemans, but the Belgian has not moved.

Aouar broke through the ranks at Lyon, making his debut in 2016. He has made over 210 appearances for the club scoring 45 goals and assisting 30.

He also made four appearances for the French national team under Didier Deschamps and recorded two assists.

Despite earning rave reviews as a youngster and serving accomplished performances in 2020-2021, Aouar’s stocks have fallen.

Injuries and inconsistency have blighted his game. He will be hoping that Steve Cooper can help him find his mojo.

Forest have signed 15 new players this summer, and Aouar should be the next player to check in at the City Ground.

The club is still looking to do more summer business. They have Brighton’s Neal Maupay on their radar.
