Florian Wirtz suffers a torn ACL as Köln defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the derby

The decisive 18-year-old suffers a heartbreaking injury that will keep him out long-term

Florian Wirtz suffered an ACL injury in his left knee in the 27th minute as Köln beat Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay Arena. The 18-year-old youngster has netted 7 Bundesliga goals and created 15 big chances, recording 10 assists in the league. He has made over 30 appearances for Leverkusen this campaign, scoring 10 and assisting 14.

It is incredibly sad that one of the top young prospects in Europe has just suffered a terrible injury especially after his coach Gerard Seoane praised his impact for the team.
The Germany international went down after a coming together with Köln defender Luca Kilian and is expected to miss several weeks of action now.
