Arsenal and Fulham have finally reached an agreement for the transfer of Bernd Leno for £8m

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is set to join Premier League newcomers Fulham on a permanent deal worth £8 million. The German international is already scheduled for a medical this week.

The 30-year-old had seen his game time drop drastically following the signing of Aaron Ramsdale, and he will look to join up with Arsenal’s London rivals Fulham to get some game time ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Leno, the former Bayer Leverkusen man, has played 125 games for Arsenal, keeping 37 clean sheets in that time. Marco Silva’s team has been following the player all summer, and they are now close to sealing a deal for their target.

Medicals are scheduled for later this week. The 2020 FA Cup winner will now be tasked with helping the Cottagers stay in the top-flight of English football.

Fulham have signed Andreas Pereira, Kevin Mbabu, Manor Solomon, and Joao Palhinha already as they look to survive relegation and hopefully establish themselves as Premier League regulars.

An experienced Premier League shot-stopper like Leno bolsters their chances.

Fulham begin their Premier League campaign against Community Shield winners Liverpool on Saturday.
