Romelu Lukaku signs for Chelsea for club-record fee – set to take number 18 shirt

Romelu Lukaku has completed his move to Chelsea from Inter Milan

Chelsea have completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a fee of 115 million Euros. He will earn 12 million Euros per year in London. The Belgian marksman returns to the Premier League after a successful two-year stint in Milan where he won the Scudetto and the Serie A MVP. Lukaku will join the blues on a five-year contract until 2026 and according to various reports, he will wear the 18 shirt. Not the number 9 which we wore at Inter nor the 10 he wore in his latter days at Everton. He will wear the number 18 he wore when he first arrived at Chelsea with Fernando Torres the main man. Tammy Abraham currently wears number 9 for the blues but his future is up in the air.

Lukaku has 113 goals and 35 assists in his Premier League career but none of those goals came during his first stint at Chelsea. He’ll be desperate to get off the mark for his boyhood club. Everton’s all-time Premier League scorer has become a different beast since he joined Inter. Antonio Conte has refined his game and made him one of the top 3 strikers in the world. He scored 65 goals in 94 appearances, leading Inter to the title. Lukaku is also Belgium’s top scorer of all-time with 64 goals in 98 matches. What a coup this is for Chelsea.
