adidas and the Bob Marley Foundation Link Football, Music and Freedom in New Capsule Collection

adidas has unveiled a new collaboration with the Bob Marley Foundation, delivering an eight-piece off-pitch apparel collection that sits at the intersection of football, music, and cultural legacy.

Rooted in archival references from Bob Marley’s life, music, and personal style, the adidas x Bob Marley collection reimagines some of the late icon’s most recognisable looks while weaving in his deep connection to football. Marley’s belief in the game as a unifying and liberating force forms the emotional core of the capsule.

The collection was developed in close collaboration with the Bob Marley Foundation, which provided access to archival photographs and historical garments worn by Marley throughout his career. One of the standout inspirations comes from the lilac Firebird track pants Marley famously wore while touring Europe, now reworked through the adidas Originals lens.

Design details across the range draw heavily from Jamaican symbolism and the rhythm of Marley’s music. A flowing wave pattern appears throughout the collection, acting as a visual link between sound, movement, and the spirit of Jamaica. At the centre of the capsule is the phrase “Football is Freedom” a message created with the Foundation and featured prominently on key pieces, reflecting Marley’s lifelong love for the game and his belief in its power to transcend borders.

The adidas Originals Trefoil features across the collection, placed opposite a distinctive ‘Bob’ embroidery rendered in custom calligraphy, tying the collaboration together with subtle but meaningful branding.

Among the standout pieces is the “Football is Freedom” jersey, designed in golden yellow with green detailing inspired by the Jamaican flag. The shirt features the wave motif layered with the name “MARLEY” and a bold front graphic that reinforces the collection’s central message. The emerald green full-zip track jacket and matching purple track pants offer a modern take on classic sportswear, while carrying the same statement graphic across the back panel.

The capsule also includes a striped dress and short-sleeve T-shirt in green, gold, and red, wave-patterned red shorts, two styles of crew socks, and a brown-and-white adidas bowler bag, rounding out a collection that feels equally at home on the streets as it does in football culture.

More than a fashion release, the adidas x Bob Marley Foundation collection positions football as a cultural language one that connects music, identity, and freedom across generations.
