Wesley Fofana is increasingly frustrated with Leicester City and their demands of over £80 million to allow him to complete his move to Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

Fofana wants to follow in the footsteps of Didier Drogba, a legend in Fofana’s hometown of Marseille, and play at Stamford Bridge. However, he believes Leicester are pricing him out of his move to the London club.

Leicester have not made things easy. The club has rejected two bids for Fofana. The latest one was worth £70 million.

The club is asking Chelsea to pay above the world-record £80 million Manchester United paid to sign Harry Maguire in 2019.

Fofana was signed by Leicester for £36 million from Saint-Etienne in 2020. He was voted Leicester’s Young Player of the Year in his first season in England. The Foxes would win the FA Cup that year against Chelsea. Fofana put in a titanic performance in that game.

A leg break in pre-season would prevent the France under-21 defender from starting the 2021/22 season with Leicester. He would return in the second half of the season and continue to impress.

Leicester are under no pressure to sell. Fofana recently signed an extension with the club until 2027.

Leicester City know they have quite the asset. They want to extract as much value from the sale as possible. Especially considering their dire financial situation and Chelsea’s desperation.

The Blues are eager to sign another central defender after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. They also loaned out Levi Colwill and plan the same for Ethan Ampadu.

Thomas Tuchel is desperate for some defensive reinforcement.

Chelsea have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, and Marc Cucurella, but they will be desperate to add another central defender to their side.

They will also be looking for another midfielder with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic out for the foreseeable future.
