UCL: Liverpool and Chelsea Suffers Defeat as Barcelona Shares Point with Dortmund

Defending champions Liverpool have lost the first game of their UEFA champion’s league campaign to Italian side Napoli as Chelsea also suffers defeat.

The Jorgen Klopp led side who were looking to revenge their last season’s loss against Napoli failed to pick a revenge as the Italian side defeated the Merseyside by 2 goals to Nil.

Fellow English club Chelsea was not left out of the UCL defeat as they lost at home to Spanish side Valencia.

Napoli took the lead in the final 10 minute of the game after, Andrew Robertson was penalised for a foul in the box on Jose Callejon, which saw the referee awarding a controversial penalty to Napoli.

Dries Mertens gave the Italian side the lead after scoring the penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

 The Italian title contenders sealed the victory late, through Fernando Llorente, who intercepted a backpass from Virgil van Dijk to double Napoli’s advantage and lock up three points.

Chelsea on the other hand fell to a lone goal scored byRodrigo in the 74th minute. after failing to score a penalty awarded to them in the 87th minute

On the other hand Spanish giant Barcelona failed to find the back of the net in Germany as their host Borussia Dortmund held Blaugrana to a goalless draw.

Barcelona’s Youngster Anso Fati who failed to score at his debut for Barcelona was latter substituted in the 52nd minute for Barca’s GOAT Lionel Messi.

In other games from last night fixtures , Salzburg hosted Genk to a 6-2 win,  Inter Milan drew Slavia Prague 1-1, Lyon also played 1-1 draw with Zenith st. Petersburg, While Benfica lost 1-2 at home to RB Leipzig and Ajax hosted Lille to a 3-0 victory.
