African Cup of Nation 2021: Defending champions Algeria face stern test against Ivory Coast (full AFCON draws)

The draws for the pandemic-postponed AFCON 2021 have been set

The draws for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations draws were held on Tuesday evening at the Palais de Congres in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Legends of the game like Roger Milla, El Hadji Diouf, Lucas Radebe, and Rigobert Song were present at the event. CAF President Patrice Motsepe alongside Mimi Fawaz and Leonard Chatelain set up the draws.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will open the tournament against Burkina Faso in Yaoundé on January 9. Ethiopia and Cape Verde are the other two members of the group. Group B is made up of Senegal, Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi. Group C will see Morocco duel Ghana, Comoros, and Gabon. In Group D, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau.

Current champions Algeria will contend with Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, and Ivory Coast for Group E. Group F will have Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, and Gambia facing each other.

The tournament will kick off in Cameroon on the 9th of January 2022
