RB Leipzig reject fresh €24 million bid from Bayern Munich for Konraid Laimer

Konrad Laimer set to play the ball
Bayern Munich have seen their latest bid for Konrad Laimer rejected by RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig have rejected Bayern Munich’s latest €24 million bid for midfielder Konrad Laimer, according to Bild.

Leipzig continue to insist on €30 million. This latest bid is thought to be a final approach from Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club will now wait for the player to become a free agent in the summer before signing him.

Leipzig would have received a guaranteed €20m plus another two million if Bayern win the league. They will receive a further two million if Bayern wins the Champions League.

Laimer’s reluctance to hand in a transfer request or push for a move keeps Leipzig calm.

Laimer, 25, is in the final year of his contract and refuses to sign a contract extension. Leipzig are refusing to cash in on the Austrian international right now, with the club prepared to lose him for free in June 2023.

Julian Nagelsmann is keen on reuniting with his former player. There are also concerns about Leon Goretzka, who is out indefinitely with an injury.

Despite Bayern signing Ryan Gravenberch this summer and the impressive performances Marcel Sabitzer is putting together, the club is pushing for Laimer.

Right now, it is unclear if Bayern will pursue other targets or return for Laimer.

The Rekordmeister have won all three of their opening Bundesliga games, and they look in fantastic form as they look to retain their crown.

It has not been smooth sailing for Leipzig though. Die Roten Bullen sit 13th on the table after two draws and one loss.
