PSG rejected a massive 87m Euros bid from Chelsea for captain Marquinhos last summer

Chelsea saw a bid for PSG captain Marquinhos rejected by the Paris club

It is no secret that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of PSG defender Marquinhos. However, latest reports indicate that the interest was followed up by a huge 87 million Euros bid for the Brazilian central defender that PSG rejected vehemently. The former AS Roma defender is a titan in defense and he can more than hold his own in midfield. He also has a knack of popping up with important goals.

Marquinhos has been at PSG since 2013 and has developed into a world-class defender alongside compatriot, mentor, and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva. At 27, with over 500 games for club and country, he is in the prime of his career and his current contract does not run out until 2024. PSG and Leonardo are working to increase the length and his salary too. Chelsea have since shifted their interest to Sevilla center-half Jules Kounde. They have some eerie similarities when you view their profiles. Both men are not as tall as most central defenders, but they are mobile, smart, and great technicians that can read the game incredibly well.
