Oliver Glasner is the New Eintracht Frankfurt Manager as Bundesliga/German Football Trainer Merry-go-round Continues

Oliver Glasner has left VFL Wolfsburg and he will take over the reigns at Eintracht Frankfurt

German football is experiencing a major shakeup when it comes to coaches. It started with Marco Rose moving his camp to Borussia Dortmund, then Adi Hütter chose to replace him at Borussia Mönchengladbach and now Oliver Glasner will be taking charge of Eintracht Frankfurt after leaving Vfl Wolfsburg. Hansi Flick leaves Bayern Munich to replace Joachim Low at the German National team, Julian Nagelsmann replaces Flick. The other Bundesliga is also involved with American coach of Salzburg  Jesse Marsch taking over proceedings at RB Leipzig.

46-year-old Glasner was born in Salzburg and arrived from LASK in the summer of 2019. In his second season, he brought UEFA Champions League football back to the Volkswagen Arena. He will be given a three-year deal at the Deutsche Bank Park. The fourth-place finish was impressive but Glasner had been linked with a move away from Volkswagen Arena for a long while due to his strained relationship with his boss Jorg Schmadtke. Wolfsburg want to bring in former PSV coach Mark van Bommel in his place.

Glasner: “Eintracht Frankfurt is an exciting club and has undergone great development in recent years. The emotion in and around the city for Eintracht is great, while they’ve also made a name for themselves abroad with their great performances in the Europa League in recent years. We see the chance in Frankfurt to further develop a team on a strong level, and are looking forward to this great challenge.”

Frankfurt board spokesman Axel Hellmann: “Glasner has proven in the last two years at Wolfsburg that he’s capable of working at a top-level and developing young players. In our situation with a high fluctuation of personnel around the team, we consciously went for a coach with Bundesliga and international experience. We quickly recognized that Glasner is the best fit for our team with his playing philosophy. We’re convinced he’ll continue the success he started at Wolfsburg in Frankfurt.”
