Klopp Impressed as Liverpool Bags 1st Clean Sheet in 14 Games; Goes 11pts Clear on EPL Table

Liverpool coach, Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed his team’s first clean sheet in 14 consecutive games in all competitions this season – in their 3-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday as a ‘nearly perfect performance.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah scored the three goals that sealed 15th Premier League win of the campaign for The Reds at the Vitality Stadium.

According to Klopp, the only issue that took a a little shine off Liverpool’s day was an injury to Croatia international Dejan Lovren who was forced out by injury in the 40th minute and was replaced by Oxlade Chamberlain.

Klopp told the Match Of The Day, BBC: “It was a professional performance, controlled, scoring wonderful goals. It was a perfect game.

“We didn’t want to make it overly exciting again, so we wanted to control Bournemouth.”

He added: “The most used word in the dressing room at the moment is clean sheet – finally! There were wonderful performances; it was a really good game for a lot of players.

“We asked is it possible to enjoy all these games. The answer is ‘yes.

“There will be moments especially between the games where we have to switch the machine off, then we really can recover. And then switch it on again and have to be there.”

On centre-back, Lovren’s injury, Klopp said: “Lovren was hopefully cramp. We didn’t want to take any risks, but apart from that it was all round nearly perfect day.

“We have only three days and play Salzburg [Champions League Group E] in an all-or-nothing game. It is the next big game for us.”
