Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney is likely to miss the remaining eight games of the season after sustaining a knee injury. The 24-year-old played 90 minutes in both of Scotland’s friendlies with Poland and Austria, and while it is unclear how he got injured, sources believe he returned to North London with it. The Scotland international was to meet with a specialist on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury. However, the club is yet to deliver an update as concerns grow that the former Celtic man could be out for an extended period.

Nuno Tavares featured in the humiliating 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, but was replaced by Granit Xhaka at halftime after a below-par performance. Arteta admitted after the game that the general feeling from Tierney about his injury wasn’t really positive. “He is seeing the specialist tomorrow and we will know more about the extent of the injury, but the feeling that he had wasn’t really positive and what the scans showed either, but we have to wait and see what happens.”- said Arteta.

Losing Kieran Tierney to injury is a major setback for Mikel Arteta’s side in their pursuit of the top four. It also comes as a blow for Scotland, who are due to face Ukraine in a World Cup qualifying play-off in June.
