I Don’t Need New Players At Spurs, My Best Gift Are The Ones Here- Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur new manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he does not need new signings to lead the club out of the woods because the players he inherited from the reign of Mauricio Pochettino are so good that he sees the assemblage a gift.

The Special One will start his rescue mission on Saturday when Spurs face Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United at the London Stadium.

All eyes will be on Mourinho to see how he will turn on his managerial savvy and how he will finish the 2019/2020 Premier League race from the dismal 14th position, on 14 points, that he inherited from Pochettino after 12 round of matches.

“The best gift are the players who are here. I don’t need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better,” Mourinho told reporter during his first press conference as Tottenham boss on Thursday.

“I know them [the players] well, but you never know them well enough until you meet them.

“I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs
and some l didn’t even try [to buy] because you know how difficult it was.”

Asked how happy happy he was with the choice of Tottenham, Mourinho simply put it in the scale and rated his contentment with the new job 10 over 10 [10/10].

He said: “Happiness-wise, I am convinced my choice was a great one. [on a scale of 1 to 10], 10.

“When a club changes mid-season, it is because things are not good. Sometimes results make these decisions. I wouldn’t say it’s a [bigl job. The potential of the club is
huge, the potential of the players is great.

“One of the reasons I came was the vision Mr Levy put in front of me about this club. I know that I have potentially a great job in my
hands,” Mourinho concluded.
