EPL Roundup: Liverpool Remains Unbeaten, as Manchester City Schools Everton

UEFA champions Liverpool have continued their winning streak in the English Premier League (EPL) following a 0-1 victory away at Sheffield United.

The Jurgen Klopp’s side who did not have an easy ride at Sheffield maintained their winning streak and perfect start to the Premier League season, after a goal keeping error from Sheffield united goalie Dean Henderson gave the Merseyside team the only goal of the game.

The reds are enjoying their seventh straight league win this season, and 16 in total.

The Merseyside team wasted chances, twice in the first half through Sadio Mane, but the prospect of dropping points for the first time since March looked a real one until Wijnaldum drew back his foot from the edge of the box 30 minutes to the end of the match.

Liverpool’s win at Sheffield keeps the Jurgen Klopp led side 5 points ahead of close league contenders Manchester City who are second on the league table with 16pts.

At another game in the EPL, Manchester City defeated their host Everton at the Goodison Park by three goals to one

Gabriel Jesus gave City the lead in the 24th minute following a quick raid by Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian passed inside to Kevin De Bruyne and the Belgian delivered a typically inviting cross for Jesus to head home.

The home side hit back with a strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

City secured the points after Mahrez beat Jordan Pickford with a low free-kick and Raheem Sterling struck via the woodwork.

Everton have now lost four of their last five Premier League games.

Results of other EPL games played today are as follows:  AFC Bournemouth 2 – 2 West Ham United, Aston Villa 2 – 2 Burnley, Chelsea 2 – 0 Brighton, Crystal Palace 2 – 0 Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 1 Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 – 0 Watford
