Conor Coady set to join Everton from Wolves

Everton are closing in on the signing of Conor Coady from fellow Premier League side Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady is set to join Everton on a loan deal with an option to buy for around £12 million according Sky Sports. A deal is expected to be done before the end of the week.

The 29-year-old was on the bench for his side’s opening game of the season against Leeds United.

Coady has found himself down the pecking order at Wolves after the arrival of Nathan Collins from Burnley, who started alongside Max Kilman at Elland Road in a back four.

Coady wants to end his seven-year spell at Molineux to find first-team football ahead of the Qatar World Cup and a potential England call-up.

The well-known Liverpool fan could now be on the move to the blue side of Merseyside.

Everton have moved swiftly to cover any defensive crisis after Ben Godfrey had to be stretchered off in their defeat to Chelsea. Yerry Mina also limped off in that game.

The Wolves captain is great defensive reinforcement for Frank Lampard. A pairing of James Tarkowski and Coady looks good enough on paper to help Everton avoid another season of mediocrity.
