Youngster Bryan Gil has signed for Tottenham in a deal worth 25 million Euros. Erik Lamela will also move to Sevilla

Tottenham Hotspurs have completed the signing of Sevilla youngster Bryan Gil. A deal that will move Argentine winger Erik Lamela in the opposite direction. Spurs paid an additional €25M as part of the deal to bring the 20-year-old Gil to North London. The Spanish playmaker becomes Nuno Espirito Santo’s second major signing of the summer. He has brought in goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Serie A side Atalanta.

Bryan Gil caught the eye of many during his spell in La Liga. Gil is considered one of the most exciting and promising young players in Spain. After coming through the youth system at Sevilla, Gil made 21 appearances for the Andalusian side in all competitions. His only goal came in the Europa League in November 2019. He spent last season on loan at Eibar, where he scored four goals and registered three assists. Gil was one of the few positives for Eibar as the club got relegated from La Liga.

Erik Lamela will leave Tottenham after 8 years and some stunning rabona goals

29-year-old Erik Lamela sealed his move to Sevilla after eight seasons in North London. Lamela is the last of the so-called Bale seven to depart the London club. The Bale Seven are the 7 players purchased with the proceeds from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013. He was signed from Roma for a then club-record fee of £30M. Lamela struggled with injuries throughout his Spurs career. However, he made a total of 257 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals and providing 47 assists in all competitions. The Argentina international contributed 4 goals and 1 assist in 35 games in all competitions for Tottenham last season. A tally that included the Premier League Goal of the Season for his spectacular Rabona in the North London derby.

Although they will get Erik Lamela, eyebrows have been raised over the sale of the youngster. He was one of the most talked-about young talents in La Liga and is considered a very bright talent. Sevilla have an abundance of wide attackers, the chances were slim for Gil. Gil has three caps for Spain. Although he was not included in their Euro 2020 squad, he is part of Spain’s squad at the Tokyo Olympics. He started in their 1-0 win over Australia on Sunday. Subject to international clearance, Gil will join up with his new teammates after the Olympics. He is a friend of Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilon,
