Aston Villa complete the quickfire signing of Danny Ings from Southampton

In a surprising move, Danny Ings has signed for Aston Villa

Aston Villa have signed Danny Ings from Southampton for a fee of around 25 million Pounds (rising to 30). The Birmingham club have been moving with purpose throughout this summer. They have signed Leon Bailey, Emiliano Buendia, and now Danny Ings. They also made moves for Emile Smith Rowe of Arsenal and James Ward-Prowse of Southampton. However, this move came as a shock to most people as there were no rumors. Danny Ings wanted to leave Southampton and with only a year left on his contract, the time was now but the swiftness of the deal is surprising. Ings scored 46 goals and assisted 13 more in 100 appearances for Southampton.

Dean Smith’s side is shaping up for a push into the upper echelon this season. They will lose their main man Jack Grealish as he nears his Manchester City move but they have signed well and they are not done. It will be interesting to see how they line up with these new profiles. Does Dean Smith play a 2-striker formation? Does he alternate between his two English strikers Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins? We wait to find out. Aston Villa have more transfer dealings. A loan move for Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe is on the cards.
