Arteta Rumored to be the Favourite Replacement for Unai Emery

Management of Arsenal football club has been rumoured to be considering former Player Mikel Arteta to replace Manager Unai Emery who is living on Borrowed time at the London club.

According to reports in  on Monday, Emery is now living on borrowed time at the London club following a poor run this term which has seen them go six consecutive games without a win.

Arsenal chieftains have been greatly animated into going back to the drawing board after Emery’s team lost two points at home in their 2-2 draw with Southampton on Saturday to further slide down in the Premier League table, now in eighth position on 18 points – 19 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Arteta is reportedly interested in discussing the Arsenal top job with the Gunners’ chiefs, and will leave his assistant manager role at Manchester City to replace Emery if their negotiation turns out well.

Emery got the Gunners job ahead of Arteta when he replaced Arsene Wenger in 2018 after the Frenchman stepped down following his 22-year reign.

Arteta, played for Arsenal for five years – from 2011 to 2016, before becoming Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

According to reports in England, the Arsenal hierarchy is also interested in former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, but Arteta seems to be their number one target.

Allegri was also interviewed for the job when Arsenal parted ways with Wenger, but he was reportedly unavailable, preferring to go on a sabbatical after spending many years coaching in Italy.
